別の機会for whom the idea of ‘future’ rests more on a lifetimeof three-quarters of a century and a concernfor the continuation of the species. In the courtyard, I composed Balsa, a simple butlabor-intensive installation of five large bamboorafts: human inventions for floating on a wateryenvironment, but here left stranded on a rockyamphitheatre. I learned later on from Mr. Ohta (officialexhibition photographer) that the venue itselfused to be filled with water instead of stones. Inthe background plays Water Clock, a collection ofnatural field recordings and artificial sounds composedinto a slow rhythmic trickling and ticking, with a flutter of wings (simulated through umbrellashuffling) taking off every minute. The search for natural water sounds in Akiyoshidaibrought me underground to the region’s caves, where I also went looking for the object of my otherproject: bats. Most memorable of the three majorcaves was Kagekiyodo, the back end of which Itrans_2018-2019Bat is Dreaming, Installation, light objects, video, photos, text, photo: Mr. Ohta, Mica Cabildo《コウモリは夢を見ている》 インスタレーション、照明器具、ビデオ、写真、テキスト、Photo:大田道洋、ミカ・カビルド
