23Residence ProjectWhile being close to nature in Akiyoshidai I hoped tofind a connection between the rich Japanese traditionsand the contemporary life in rural Japan whilemeeting people who are living in harmony with theirsurroundings.I think the future of this land is deriving from thetraditions deriving from Shintoism and Zen Buddhismthat are still vibrant here in the declining agriculturecommunity. In my work I show the connections betweenthe traditional daily life as I have seen here andthe spiritual world that is surrounding the inhabitants.The future though is alive in the children who arecatching reflections with their mirrors near the riverside.The mirror functions as the ‘spirit-body’ (goshintai)of the kami and thus acts as an interface betweenthe physical and spiritual world ‘Yata No Kagami’.Within the workshop ‘The Bird Dance’, I am researchingif it is possible to create an awareness of internalconnections between ones own body; the mind, thebelly and the heart and outward connections to thesurroundings; the environment and the other, whileusing bodily communication only.In Shintoism it is believed that the Kami are alive ineverything; in a bamboo-trunk, in sand or in smoke.If I practice enough will I eventually be able to feel itvibrations?滞在制作プロジェクト　秋吉台の自然に接している間、周辺の環境と調和して暮らす人々と会い、私は豊かな日本の伝統と、日本の田舎の現代的な生活との間に?がりを見つけたいと思いました。　この土地の未来とは、人口が減少傾向にあるこの土地の農業社会の中で、いまだ活気のある神道と仏教の禅に由来する伝統から派生するものだと思います。川岸で鏡に映る反射を捉えようと遊ぶ子どもたちの中に、未来は存在しています。鏡は御神体としての機能を持ち、このことで物質的な世界と精神的な世界（八咫の鏡）を接合するものとして機能します。　ワークショップ「鳥のダンス」の中で、動作によるコミュニケーションのみを使って、それぞれの体、心、腹、心臓の内的な?がりと、周囲の環境、自然環境、他者への外的な?がりの意識を創造することは可能か、調査しました。　神道では、竹の幹、砂、煙の中など、全てのものの中に神が存在すると信じられています。しっかり修行をすれば、私も最終的にその感覚的反応を感じることができるのでしょうか。
