33滞在制作プロジェクト 『Inside Out & Outside In』制作プロセスの散文的振り返り：1) 現在（2018 年）日本国内津々浦々で起こる過疎化は秋吉台周辺地域でも起きている。余所者を地域に招き定住してもらわなければ地域機能は衰退するという声をしばしば聞く。滞在で行うプロジェクトを“うち”と“よそもの”というテーマに絞る。秋吉台や秋芳洞各など土地の魅力や歴史的な背景ではなく、あくまで地域に住む当事者と他者から紡がれる言葉から着想する滞在制作にしたいと思う。2) 秋吉台芸術村の所在地である美祢市は10 年前に市町村合併で新たに再編されたばかりであり、地域民に話を聞いていると、どうやら美祢市民という地域アイデンティティは醸成途中であるようだ。“美祢市民”とは多様な意見同士が織りなすポリフォニーであると捉えるようになる。その認識を直接形にした〔市民( 達)〕という映像作品を着想し制作を行う。3) 上記した地域アイデンティティを考える作品を起点にすることで、地域における“よそ”がより認識できるようになり始める。他の地域出身者達と話しをする中で、“よそ”という観念を抽象度の高い外部として考えるようになる。それを着想に数点制作する。4) 展覧会ではInside Out & Outside In というタイトルの元、制作した作品を構成したインスタレーションを作る。Inside Out は[ 内から外]、Outside In は[ 外から内] へ向かう流れを意味し、二つの流れを交差させることで両者が交わる新しい認識の在処を探りました。 本滞在では沢山の地域民の方にご協力頂き制作を進める事が出来ました。 名前も知らぬままご協力くださった方、ニックネームしか分からない方もおりますが下記の協力者の皆さまへ改めて感謝申し上げます。（順不同） 白岩裕子さん、吉村さん、谷さん、水谷さん 、ALTの先生たち、花岡さん、西田さん、村田さん、美容師さん、ニッキさん、宮崎さん、山田さん、大庭さん、森下さん、森下さんのご友人と娘さん、大島亮さん、しょうちゃん、あまちゃん、秋芳鉱業株式会社さま、長登銅山文化交流館さま、AIAV のスタッフの皆さま、その他多くの美祢市に住む方々Residence ProjectInside Out & Outside InProsaic review of the production process:1) As of 2018, depopulation is progressing in Akiyoshidaiarea like many other places in Japan. We oftenhear it said that, unless inviting outsiders to settledown, rural districts would go into a decline. I thereforenarrow down the theme of my project to “Insider” and“Outsider”. Then I would like to decide not to take a historical-base d approach and refer to those well-knownfeatures of this area such as Akiyoshidai Plateau andAkiyoshido Cave, but an interview-based approach tocollect various words of the locals and those who livehere as outsiders.2) Mine city, where Akiyoshidai International Art Villageis located, is a rather new city which was integratedfrom 2 towns and a city 10 years ago due to municipalamalgamation. Listening to the locals, apparently, theregional identity of citizens in Mine seemed to be still inthe state of being fermented. I came to regard an imageof the “citizen of Mine” as a polyphony woven by variousopinions ambiguously where there is no stereotype.Casting this idea into shape, I have produced a videowork called “Citizen(s)”.3) Designating the above-mentioned regional identityas my starting point, I have become able to recognizewhat “elsewhere” is for this region. During the course oftalking to those from outside Mine city, I conceived ofthe idea that the notion of “elsewhere” is highly abstractive“outside” for insiders. Based on this idea, I havecreated a few works.4) Based on the title of my work for the exhibition,“Inside Out & Outside In”, I made an installation composedby several works I produced. “Inside Out” and“Outside In” describe two opposite flows in and out, andby crossing these flows I attempted to explore a newperspective or recognition where the two, i.e., insiderand outsider, intersected each other.I have managed to carry out my project successfullythanks to those who supported me during my stay.
