116切り絵の作業はごく単純だ。一枚の紙から無数の形を切り取っていく。切り抜かれた部分には何もない。無だ。無が増えるごとに線が生まれ姿が現れ、作品が成立する。物質としては質量を減らすことで、光を透かし影を生む、新たな美を宿す形象に生まれ変わる。機械化、効率化が当然とされている今日、私はナイフで時間をかけて紙を刻む。そこには機械では成し得ない、呼吸が、ゆらぎが、一つ一つの線に刻まれ息づいている。それが作品を支える命となる。制作を通して人の手の持つ可能性を追求し、作品を通してそれを伝えていくこと。これは私が、切り絵という至って簡潔な技法と出会った宿命であり責任。私にとって切り絵とは生きる事そのものです。Paper cutting is very simple. I cut indefinite numbers of shapesout of a sheet of paper. There is nothing left in the paper after cutting.It is a void. As the void grow, lines emerge and shapes appearto become an artwork. By reducing the mass as a material,it allows light to pass through and creates shadows to transformthem into shapes with new beauty.I spend time to cut papers with a knife in these days full of prevailingmechanization and efficiency. I leave my breath and tremorin lines of each cut that those machines can never realize. It becomeslife essential to my works. Exploring possibilities of humanhands through my creation, it is important to pass it down by mywork. It is my fate and responsibility that I encountered this simpleskill of paper cutting.
