Residence Programsレジデンス・プログラムArtist in residence program at Akiyoshidai InternationalArt Village (AIAV) has supported over 190artists and artist groups from all over the world fortheir residency, research activities, and cultural exchangessince the establishment of AIAV in 1998.These residence artists have deepened their researchon the history, culture, industry, and lifestyleof this region and have worked on their projectsby interacting with local residents. In addition, theyhave actively engaged in intercultural programs forthe local audience in Yamaguchi prefecture suchas workshop, artist talk, and outreach programs tolocal schools.In recent years, AIAV has set up several programswith different support content, function, and durationfor participating artists and has supportedthem in diverse programs responding to the present.We hope that AIAV’s artist in residence programbecomes a place for artists not only to have newexperiences and an experimental opportunity fortheir further artistic developments but also to interactand understand each other over different beliefsand cultural boundaries.秋吉台国際芸術村のアーティスト・イン・レジデンス事業は、1998年の開村当時より190組を超える世界中のアーティストの滞在制作、研究活動、地域交流を支援してきました。滞在アーティストたちは、この地域の歴史や文化、産業やライフスタイルなどのリサーチを進め、地元の人々と交流を図りながら創作活動を行っています。また、ワークショップやアーティストトーク、教育機関へのアウトリーチなど、県民を対象とした交流プログラムを積極的に行ってきました。近年では、支援対象や内容、滞在期間の異なる複数のプログラムを設け、時代に合わせて変化しながら、多様な方法でアーティストの活動支援を続けています。私たちは、秋吉台国際芸術村のアーティスト・イン・レジデンス事業が、アーティストたちにとって新しい体験の場、その後の活動のための実験の場となるだけでなく、様々な思想や文化の枠を超え、人々が行き交い、ふれ合う場となることを期待しています。Residence Programs054
