He started to play the cello at the age of 7. Lived in Philadelphia in U.S. until the age of 11. Graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts at the top of his class and received the Acanthus Award. He got scholarship by Rohm Music Foundation and studied abroad at the Sibelius Academy (Finland) and Bern University of the Arts (Switzerland). He won the 2nd prize and the Iwatani (audience) prize in the 72nd Music Competition of Japan in 2003 and Best New Artist award in the 2007 Kyoto Aoyama Music Award. In 2006 and 2007, he participated in “Community Engagement Program” organized by Midori, a violinist and played together around the world. He won the 3rd prize and Best Performer of the Japanese Work in the 2nd Gaspar Cassad\u00f3 International Violoncello Competition in 2009. In 2011, he held debut recitals in five locations throughout Japan including the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Won the 12th the Hideo Saito Memorial Fund Award in 2013. In addition to his participation as a member of the Saito Kinen Orchestra and quartet in residence of the Arkas Sasebo, Quartet Explloce, the Koji Oikawa Trio \u201cBee\u201d and Yuzuko Horigome chamber music performance series. Also played with Vadim Repin at MUSIC FESTIVAL Argerich’s Meeting Point(R) in Beppu in 2016. He received high evaluation as a talented cellist. His solo CD “Oblivion” was released in 2019 and chosen as Recommended Disc by Record Geijutsu magazine. After played as Cello Soloist at the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, he is now the principal cellist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

To date, he has played with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia and Berliner Symphoniker. He studied under Metta Watts, Orlando Cole, Yorimitsu Kawamoto, Noboru Kamimura, Nobuko Yamazaki, Arto Noras, and Ant\u00f4ni Meneses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He plays a cello built by Antonio Stradivarius in 1724 provided to him on loan by NPO Yellow Angel, and a bow is Tourte on loan by a anonymous collector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
