1. Regarding Screening

Screening Procedure

–The preliminary rounds and final round will be held at the Akiyoshidai International Art Village Concert Hall, where candidates will be evaluated.

–The results of each preliminary round will be determined on the same day by the screening board and announced at the venue.

–The results of the final round will be determined by the screening board after the performance and announced at the venue during the award ceremony.

※ The winner of the top prize will also receive the Yamaguchi Prefectural Governor’s Award (Certificate).

2. Application

Eligibility for participation

Participants must be 16 to 39 years old (born between April 2, 1983, and April 1, 2007).

※ Age will be determined as of April 1, 2023. Nationality and background are not restricted.

Application Procedure

–Only online applications via the application form will be accepted.

Please fill in the required information on the application form on the Akiyoshidai International Art Village website (https://aiav.jp/) under the Akkyoshidai Music Competition page.

*We will send you e-mail when registration completed. Please make sure to change the anti-spam setting to accept the domain ‘aiav.jp’.

3. Impportant Notes

Reception

-Participants should complete the registration at the designated date and time at the venue and follow the staff’s instructions. Please note that latecomers may be considered as forfeiting their participation.

-The performance order will be determined by the organizers.

Expenses

-Candidates are responsible for all expenses related to their participation. If you bring an accompanist, you must bear all the expenses associated with the accompanist. Accommodation during the competition period at the Akiyoshidai International Art Village accommodation facility (for 3 nights) is free for candidates. ※This does not include accompanying pianists. (※Separate fees apply, advance reservation required).

–Meals during your stay at the Akiyoshidai International Art Village can be arranged at the on-site restaurant. (※Separate fees apply, advance reservation required).

–Transportation services will be provided with shuttle buses between JR Shin-Yamaguchi Station, Yamaguchi-Ube Airport, and the Art Village on the day before the first preliminary round and after the final round. (Separate fees apply: One-way 2,500 yen/person, including instrument transport, advance reservation required).

Cancellation policy

–If you must withdraw from the competition, please contact the office promptly. The participation fee, once paid, will not be refunded.

Privacy Policy

-Regarding the information provided in the application, including name, age, highest education level, and attached photo, they may be used for publicity purposes of this competition. The personal information submitted during the application process will only be used for the operation of this competition and will not be used for any other purposes. The organizers retain all rights to photographs, recordings, broadcasts, and any other media related to performances during the competition.

Regarding Archive Streaming

-We will publicly release all performances of the final round as “Akiyoshidai Music Competition Archive Streaming” on the Akiyoshidai International Art Village YouTube account. By participating, please understand that recordings, filming, and the distribution of audio and video on video-sharing platforms will be conducted based on the assumption of public release and that you consent to the use of performers’ rights associated with the live performances.

Public Pianist

Important Notes on Usage:

–Practice time, location, and assigned pianist will be designated at the venue on the day before each preliminary and final round. Please note that candidates cannot request a specific pianist. Please pay the usage fee in cash at the reception on the day before each preliminary and final round.

–Memorization is required only for the final selection.
