1. Regarding Screening

Categories

– Chamber Music (String Quartet) Category

Screening Procedure

–The qualifier and final selection will be held at the Akiyoshidai International Art Village Concert Hall.

—The results of the qualifier will be determined on the same day by the screening board and announced at the venue.

–The results of the final selection will be determined by the judging committee after the performance concludes, and they will be announced at the venue on the last day, followed by an award ceremony.

※ The winner of the top prize will also receive the Governor of Yamaguchi Prefectural Award (Certificate).

2. Application Procedure

Eligibility

Participants must be 16 years old or older but not older than 39 years old.
(Born between April 2, 1984, and April 1, 2008).

*Age is based on the status as of April 1, 2024, and nationality and background are not relevant.

Participation fee

Chamber Music (String Quartet) Division: 56,000 yen (per group)
*Accommodation is available at Akiyoshidai International Art Village during the event. However, meals are not included.

*After receiving the participation confirmation notice, please make the payment via bank transfer to the specified account by the designated deadline.

Application Period

From February 1, 2024 (Thursday) to March 1, 2024 (Friday)
*Applications MUST be received by 23:59 on March 1,2024 (JST)

<Important Points>
After applying, you will receive a confirmation email within a few days. Depending on your email settings, emails from Akiyoshidai International Art Village may not be received, so please set your email to allow emails from “aiav.jp” through domain-specific reception.

3. Impportant Notes

Reception

-Participation will not be accepted if the participation fee is not confirmed within the specified period.
-Participants must complete registration at the venue at the designated date and time, following staff instructions. Late arrivals may result in disqualification.
-The order of performances will be determined by the organizers.

Expenses

-Participants are responsible for all expenses related to their participation.
-Accommodation during the competition period at Akiyoshidai International Art Village is free for three nights.
-Information regarding meal options during the art village stay will be provided later.
-Shuttle buses will be available on the day before the qualifier, after the final selection and masterclass, between JR Shin-Yamaguchi Station, Yamaguchi Ube Airport, and the art village (additional fee of 2,500 yen one way, advance reservation required).

Cancellation policy

–In case of unavoidable withdrawal, please contact the office promptly.
The participation fee once paid will not be refunded.

Privacy Policy

-Information such as name, age, highest education, and attached photos submitted during the application may be used for publicity purposes of the competition.
-Personal information submitted during the application will be used solely for the operation of the competition and will not be used for any other purpose.
-All rights related to photos, recordings, videos, broadcasts, etc., of performances during the competition belong to the organizers.

Regarding Archive Streaming

-We will publicly release all performances of the final selection as “Akiyoshidai Music Competition Archive Streaming” on the Akiyoshidai International Art Village YouTube account. By participating, please understand that recordings, filming, and the distribution of audio and video on video-sharing platforms will be conducted based on the assumption of public release and that you consent to the use of performers’ rights associated with the live performances.

4. Assigned Pieces

Chamber Music (String Quartet) Division

–Treatment of repeats, da capo, etc., will be determined after the application deadline.

5.Other

Chamber Music (String Quartet) Masterclass

A masterclass conducted by judges will be held for participating groups in the Chamber Music (String Quartet) Division. Groups interested in the masterclass can choose their preference during the application process, and there is no cost.

After the masterclass, there will be transportation via JR Shin-Yamaguchi Station for those heading to Yamaguchi Ube Airport.
