Overview

Composition and Conducting class by Mr. Yoichi SUGIYAMA, the composer/conductor who is living in Italy, has received a great response as the first attempt in Japan. That is a small but elect one-to-one lesson for composers who have a chance to conduct his/her own compositions.
　In addition, we will play in the world premiere of a commissioned work by Mr. Osamu KAWAKAMI who will be invited as a lecturer of composition class for the first time.
　community participation type music workshop will be the 3rd time since the 3rd term of the seminar starts as new development in 2016. Also ad‐lib workshop for seminar’s students is planed anew. Mr. Tomoni ADACHI, the composer/performer who actives internationally, creates the place to “Broaden Music” from the previous year.
　In the instruments’ class and concert, special players line up who are field of contemporary music not only in Japan but also all of the world.
　Would you like to have the dense time to realize “Sence of Never Heard” = “Seed of New Creation” at AIAV?

Seminar Application Guideline

【Composition１】“Jo KONDO’s Class”

(Capacity:12/in the order of apply)

• – Student brings 1 or 2 works. 45 mins for each person.
  
• – Please prepare reference material (4 or 5 copies of score and sound source) as much as possible.
  
• – Lecturers give advice mainly by Mr. Jo KONDO, and have discussion with other students.

【Composition２(Composition/Conducting)】”Yoichi SUGIYAMA Classs”

(Capacity:4/in the order of apply)

• *Note: The class starts one day before other classes.
• – First day: 17th August, 2018(Fri.) 19:00
• – 3 open lessons for each student will be planed with about 2 mins own composed piece on music instrumental compositions below with conducting by oneself.
• – Student will be had a lesson by Yoichi SUGIYAMA and advice by players. Moreover other composition lecturers will give advice as much as possible.
• – – A student concert of an accomplishment with lecturers’ ensemble is on 21st August(Student concert 1).

Music instrumental composition: Quartet or Quintet made from 1 Violin, 1 Viola, 1 Cello, 1 Flute (switch to Piccolo, Alto, Bass is available), 1 Piano (String piano is not available)

* Students in composition 1,2 classes can attend both of them.

• – Only contemporary pieces are available in the instrumental classes. We will coordinate about selected pieces with lecturers when one applies.
• – It would be possible to be outside of the above schedule because the time schedule and a method of the instrumental class depend on the schedule of lecturers.
  
• – A student concert of an accomplishment is on 23rd August(Student concert 2).

The special lecture will be held by the composer Mr. Joji YUASA who had been the art director of the seminar for many years.

【Ad-lib workshop by Tomomi ADACHI】

The workshop of “Ad-lib” and “Composition/Conducting” that are now being more important at the field of contemporary music by the first philosopher who is active internationally. Please bring the music instruments.(Simple instrument or voice are also available.) Please wear comfortable clothes on the day.

【Attendance】

Capacity is unlimited. But capacity will be 15 people if with accommodation.
Free to attend all of class, lecture and workshop. If with lodging, applicants who participate in complete schedule is given priority.

*If applicants take in the parts of schedule, but the price of lecture fees is the same as complete schedule. Accommodation and meals fee should be calculated with the number of your participation days.

*If apply to composition 2 (Composition/Conducting) class, fees of accommodation on 17th and breakfast on 18th are included.(Price does not change.)
