Kyohei SORITA

Kyohei Sorita was born in 1994.
In 2012, while still in high school, he won both 1st prize and Special Audience Award at the 81st Japan Music Competition. He studied at Toho Gakuen School of Music in 2013, then applied for Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Russia under the recommendation of Professor Mikhail Voskresensky and entered with the highest score in 2014.
The following year, Kyohei Sorita won the 1st prize at Città di Cantù International Piano and Orchestra Competition (Classical Category) in Italy in April. His debut CD album “Liszt” was released by Nippon Columbia in July. His sensational performance of Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in that year received standing ovation and endless applause. He then made his debut in both solo recital and concerto with orchestra at The Mariinsky Theatre in the Russian International Music Festival.
2016 was a fruitful year for Kyohei Sorita. His debut recital at Tokyo Suntory Hall was a great success with 2000 seats totally sold out. At the 3 Nights Summer Concerts with a different program each day, tickets sold out on the first sales day and the presenters added 3 more concerts. He attracted an amazing number of 3,000 music fans, though he has just made his debut.
Kyohei has appeared in various media including Japanese TV programs “Untitled Concert”, “Jonetsu-Tairiku”. 
His latest CD is Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI conducted by Andrea Battistoni.
He was awarded Idemitsu Music Prize and CD Shop’s grand prize “Classical Prize” in 2017.Kyohei is high in demand both in Japan and overseas. He has exceptional talent and we look forward to a promising and exciting future.
