Akiyoshidai Music Competition is held as the gateway to success for young musicians. We have 2 categories, Tuba and Stringed Instrument this year. Juries are active on the front lines.

Eligibility for participation

Both Candidates must be over 16 and under 39 years old as of April 1, 2018
(Birthdate must be between the 2nd of April 1978 and the 1st of April 2002.)

Participation fee

30,000yen
* Three day’s accommodation is included. The meal expenses are not included. Fees must be paid by bank transfer after a notification is delivered.

January 4 to no later than March 12, 2018(JST)

About examination

Screening Procedure

– The first qualifier, the second qualifier and the final selection will be held at the venue (Akiyoshidai International Art Village Concert Hall).
– The results of the first qualifier and the second qualifier will be announced by the examination committee the same day as the preliminary exam at the venue.
– The results of the final selection will then soon be announced after each performance is over at the venue, and an awards ceremony will be held.

Regarding Accompanists

Public pianists (paid) may be used for the first and second qualifiers and the final selection.
We will designate the time and place of practice with public pianists on the previous day of each qualifier and final selection at the Village. The public pianist will be designated not by the participant but by the Music Competition Office.
If you request a public pianist for your accompanist, please fill in the designated form.
You may accompany your pianist at your own expense.

Acceptance Procedures

Lots will be drawn to decide the order of appearance.
Participants are expected to complete administrative procedures at the designated place, day and time, and then follow directions of the staff. If a participant does not arrive in time, this will be regarded as a default.
Complimentary shuttle buses between JR Shin-Yamaguchi Station, Yamaguchi-Ube airport and the venue on the previous days of the first qualifiers and after the days of final selections will be available.

Regarding fee payment

Those who do not pay the fee within the prescribed time limits are not admitted to attend the contest.
We cannot refund the fee once it is paid.
The fee does not cover the expenses of participants during this competition apart from the accommodation fee (3 nights) of Akiyoshidai International Art Village. The expense for the piano accompanist is also not covered.
Participants can use the restaurant during their stay on the premises (on their own charge, reservation is required).

Privacy Policy

Please be aware that the participant’s name, age, highest level of education, and ID photo may be used for this competition’s public relations activities.
Participant’s private information is only used for management of this competition.
Our institute has the right to take photos and record videos of this competition for broadcasting, etc.
